Pastoral Biography
of John L. Whitten
John
Whitten was born and grew up in Pontiac, Michigan.
He attended Midwestern Baptist College, Pontiac and Bethel College,
Mishawaka, Indiana. He and Sonja
Teague were married in 1967. The
following year he assumed his first pastorate at the Shambaugh Missionary
Church, Shambaugh, Iowa. Subsequent
pastorates followed in Culbertson, Nebraska; Harper, Kansas; Osage City, Kansas;
Pontiac, Township, Michigan. In
March of 1983 the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona.
In August of that year he founded Ambassadors Baptist Church in Apache
Junction, Arizona. He remains
pastor of this church today. He
enjoys preaching, hiking, shooting, western history and a mild interest as to
whether the Lost Dutchman Goldmine actually exists or not.
